Open Call Water Images and Narratives of Water: Nearly 350 Applicants
The Open Call Water Images and Weaves: Stories, Images, and Videos on the Force and Necessity of Water—promoted by the Fondazione Le Stanze della Fotografia and the Association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene—has closed with nearly 350 applicants.
The competition, free of charge and open to all interested participants, was established to gather personal accounts, narratives, and creative reflections centered on the theme of water, highlighting local memory, culture, and traditions through photography, writing, and video.
Starting from the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the open call invited creators to expand their gaze to other World Heritage Sites in Italy and across the globe, exploring the role of water in natural landscapes, agriculture, art, and culture. Water was thus presented as a universal narrative thread capable of connecting territories, heritage, and memories through diverse artistic mediums and perspectives.
The submissions will be evaluated by a jury of prominent figures in photography, writing, and visual storytelling: critic and curator Denis Curti; photographer Maurizio Galimberti; Marina Montedoro, President of the Association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene; and writers and journalists Antonio G. Bortoluzzi and Sabrina Zuccato.
Given the overwhelming participation and the high volume of proposals received, the jury will dedicate additional time to evaluating the submissions to ensure a thorough review of every work. The selection results will be communicated to the winners by late November 2026.
The selected projects will have the opportunity to be exhibited in a dedicated space at Le Stanze della Fotografia. Furthermore, a curated selection of the works will be gathered in a publication to be distributed in the bookshop at Le Stanze della Fotografia, as well as in select bookstores and cultural venues.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the selected projects and all upcoming updates regarding the Open Call Water Images and Weaves.
